Finished!; Hollywood Book Festival; and etc.

exhaustedWhew.  Just sent off the revisions to Book 3 to my editor last night.  I promised myself I was going to sleep for a week, but who am I kidding with that?  Instead, I’m headed off this evening to meet fellow Chicago author Beth Kery for a drink (or two, more likely).  We’re checking out a new wine bar and celebrating the release of her latest book, Sweet Restraint. And I’m celebrating not having to work until 10pm every night. (Yeah!)  At least, not until I get sucked into Book 4…

In other news, I thought I’d mention that Practice Makes Perfect received an Honorable Mention amongst all genre-based fiction at the Hollywood Book Festival.  hollwood The aim of the festival is to “celebrat[e] books that deserve greater recognition from the film, television, game and multimedia communities.”  Very exciting– I’m honored to have PMP included as part of such an event!

So now that I have some breathing room, it’s time to catch up on all my reading and movie-watching. I’m debating whether I can sneak out and see “Star Trek” without my husband.  (Shh… don’t tell him I said that, I’m going to say I saw “The Proposal.”)  On the reading front, I recently started “The Spymaster’s Lady” by Joanna Bourne and am really enjoying it.

Lastly, Book 3 may have a cover and a title… I saw a mock-up just today and while nothing’s final (so I can’t say more yet) I think the art department at Berkley did a fantastic job.  Can’t wait to be able to share it!

Thanks, everyone! What’s extra fun is that Beth is going to be dropping by this blog for a little Q&A, and I’ll be giving away a copy of Sweet Restraint. We’ll likely do that sometime after RWA, so be on the lookout!

Congrats on the nomination and the 3rd book! I’m looking forward to reading it.

I saw The Proposal and liked it. Yes, it was predictable but it was still good. Betty White was hilarious and Ryan Reynolds is definitely easy on the eyes.

By the way since you’re in the city and mentioned a new wine bar.. any good? Would you recommend it? (My friend needs an excuse to leave the kids with her husband and a wine bar sounds like a good plan.)

Hi Colleen! Thanks! Yes, I think I need to see both The Proposal and Star Trek. I agree, Ryan Reynolds is not tough to look at…

We went to Webster’s Wine Bar. I shouldn’t have called it new, because it’s been around for awhile, but I’d never been so it was new to me. They have a good wine selection, and do tasting portions, which is fun if you want to try a few different things. So yes, I think I would recommend it.

Hey Julie, congrats on completing book 3, and I’m so looking forward to seeing the cover. And I’m liking the sound of a book 4 *g*

Have fun with Beth. Wish I lived closer; I’d crash your party 😀 Last nite I met Michelle for bella rose martinis @ Entourage in Schaumburg. Yummy. $4 on ladies’ nite.

Looking forward to the booksigning in August 🙂

Hi Stacy! Ooh… bella rose martinis… not sure exactly what that is, but they do sound yummy. And $4– can’t beat that! I’m sure you and Michelle had a blast.

Looking forward to seeing you in August! It should be a fun signing.

Congrats! You can take a well deserved break and enjoy RWA. Don’t forget to come back and tease us with the new cover once it’s been nailed down.

Thanks, Gabriela! I’m really looking forward to RWA this year– first time as a published author! And I do hope to share the cover soon…
