Indulge in Romance Panel at Evanston Public Library

Thought I would give you all a heads up that this Saturday I’ll be at the “Indulge in Romance” event at the Evanston Public Library.  Myself and fellow local authors Barbara Binns, Maureen Lang, Margot Justes, and Patricia Rosemoor will be discussing why we write romance and what makes this genre so special.  There will be cupcakes, raffle prizes, and the opportunity to purchase new books.  Readers can bring their own gently used romances to swap, and there’s no registration required–anyone can attend.

So if you’re in the Evanston area this Saturday, drop by the library!  The event runs from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in the Community Meeting Room, Main Library. Author discussion will begin at 2 pm with book sales, book swap, and a raffle to follow.

Contact Juliette Swett at jswett@cityofevanston.org or (847) 448-8658 for further details, or visit the library’s website.

Speaking of events, I just updated my calendar page with all my upcoming appearances.  This March I’ll be doing two book signings in Chicago–one with author Beth Kery, and the other one at the wine store that inspired A Lot Like Love (and there will be a complimentary wine tasting!).  After that, I’ll be in Los Angeles, New Orleans and New York for various writers conferences. Plus, starting in late February, I’ll be doing a blog tour for A Lot Like Love–there will be lots of book giveaways involved, so be sure to check that out.

You can find more information about all of my upcoming events, including the blog tour, here.

February Giveaway

Hey everyone!

In case you hadn’t seen it, I’m running a new giveaway this month on my Contest page.  The February giveaway is a $50 gift card to the book store of the winner’s choosing, plus a copy of my upcoming release A Lot Like Love.  Please note: you must enter through the Contest page– posting here at the blog won’t count as an entry.

The current plan is to change the contest every month, so if you don’t win this one, come back again in March!

Speaking of A Lot Like Love. . . a couple reviews have come in, and so far I’m hearing good things. . .

“Julie James writes what I like to call “light romantic suspense” exceptionally well, and A LOT LIKE LOVE delivers. I love these stories with just the right balance of charm, love, action, and touches of humor and suspense. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put this book down.” —Fresh Fiction

“Julie James has quickly jumped onto my auto-buy list with her quick-witted, sexy characters and her deft ability of telling tales full of a delightfully fresh quality. If you’ve not yet sampled her books, I highly suggest putting her on your radar. In A LOT LIKE LIVE Ms. James has crafted a fabulously funny story with two great characters that are a perfect match for each other.” —Night Owl Reviews (Reviewer Top Pick)

RT Bookreviews Cover

Have you seen the March cover of RT Bookreviews?  It just so happens to mention–ahem–me.

Okay, enough of the subtleties. This is pretty darn awesome:

See it there– in the upper left corner? That’s my name!!

The entire interview can be found in the March edition, which I believe hits bookstores later this week or early next week.  Oh, and in their review of A Lot Like Love, they call the book a “delicious blend of romance and suspense” and a “thoroughly entertaining read.”

Thanks, RT Bookreviews!

I’ve got a new website!!

But if you’re here, I guess you already knew that.  : )

I’m getting used to the new site and blog, and it may take a few days to iron out all the kinks.   In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment below.  I’m testing out the new blog and want to make sure it’s working properly!
