Two exciting things… (to me, anyway)

So now that I’ve decided to include a blog as part of my website, the next question is… what am I going to blog about?   The thing that makes this decision relatively stress-free is that I’m pretty positive that nobody is actually reading this.   Hellooooo…  anybody out there….??  So in light of that, I’ve decided to post about things that are interesting to me.  (Hey– it does say “The Julie James Blog” up at the top there.)    And to me, at least, this has been a VERY exciting week.  So for the one or two of you that are still reading this (I’m guessing pretty much everybody other than my mom tuned out after the “Hmm… what should I blog about…? part), here’s the news:

Exciting development #1:  The first official review of Practice Makes Perfect is in!  The Romantic Times gave it 4 1/2 stars and called it “delightful, fast-moving” and “a surprisingly heart-warming tale of love.”   Whew.  Now no matter what else happens, I can say that at least one person liked it.  : )  Oops, you’re right Mom, of course.  At least two people liked it.

Practice Makes Perfect is about two lawyers who work for the same firm.  They can’t stand each other and believe they’re complete opposites.  When they find out that only one of them will make partner they realize:  This Means War.  (And you know what they say about love and war…)   It’s another romantic comedy, a battle-of-the-sexes story with a lot of humor and hijinks and a hero and heroine who *think* they’re totally wrong for each other.  The book releases March 3rd.

Exciting development #2:  The interim results for the 2009 All About Romance Readers’ Poll are in… and Just the Sexiest Man Alive is currently in the running in five categories!    Well, okay, four categories: Funniest Romance, Best Contemporary, Best Hero and Best Heroine, and then little ole me is on the list for Best Debut Author.  Wow!!!  Thank you so much to everyone who voted!  And if you haven’t voted for your favorites yet, you should!  (Even if it’s not for me.)   You can check it out at: www.likesbooks.com/poll08.html

So that’s what has been going on over here…  If you get a chance, drop me a comment or an email and let me know what you like to read about in author blogs.  I always love to hear from readers!

So if you don’t want people reading it, does that mean i should go away…?

:OP Can’t wait for your next book…don’t always read a lot of straight contemp, but I loved your last one.

I’m reading, Julie! I’ll have you know that after our exchange on Facebook the other day, I immediately emailed Marisa to request that I get the ARC of Practice Makes Perfect. Buffie may have beaten me to it, but if not, I’ll be laughing all the way to my review! Woo hoo!

You should blog about what you’re reading, and how the writing is going, and…I dunno, whatever you’re thinking about. That’s what I do. There are days when I blog about nothing. I generally call those posts “Bloggity-Blog-Blog”. Otherwise, I talk about romance and movies and TV.

Good luck! You’ll figure it out. But in the mean time, I’m adding you to my blogroll so people will come visit you!

I have three comments! Hooray!! I feel so “official” as a blogger. : ) Thank you everyone, for dropping by!

Shiloh– you should definitely not go away! You are on my TBR list and I can’t wait to check out your books.

Dev and Kati: I’m so glad you said hello. I’ve got both of you on my blogroll and hope you stop by from time to time.

Kati: thanks for the advice on blogging– some great suggestions! Let’s see… I’m currently reading Wicked Burn by Beth Kery. Beth lives in Chicago too and we met for drinks the other night. She is such a fun person to hang out with and I’m really enjoying the book. And–whew!– is it steamy!

So nice to hear, how you’re looking forward to PMP. I only hope you won’t be disappointed. : )

There’s lots of fun stuff to write about and I love reading peoples’ blogs because it helps me procrastinate. 🙂

    Good luck.

Hey Julie! I am so excited about Practice Makes Perfect. And Kati, yes I did already request the book for review. I requested right after reading Just The Sexiest Man Alive. I sure hope Marisa remembers that!!!!!

  6. Julie says:

Liz– thanks! And I hear you on reading blogs to procrastinate… and of course having this blog now gives me one more thing to play around with when I should be writing. ; )

Buffie– I’m so glad you came by! I hope PMP makes its way to you and Kati soon!
