About That Night in DABWAHA!

March 17th, 2013 — 8:19am

9780425246955_AboutThatNig_CV.inddYesterday, I got the news that ABOUT THAT NIGHT is the Contemporary Readers’ Nominee in the DABWAHA March Madness tournament. Thanks so much to all who voted for it!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with DABWAHA, or who’ve maybe heard about it but never participated, basically, it’s a March Madness-style tournament of romance novels. Anyone can participate–I believe it’s open internationally–and it’s tons of fun. Plus there are lots of chances to win some very cool prizes!

In a nutshell, romance novels are pitted against each other in various rounds, and people vote for the books they want to advance. Much trash-talking, among both authors and readers, ensues. So if you have some favorite books from 2012, this is your chance to get in on the fun and yell and cheer for them to win. (Plus, remember, there are prizes.)

To enter, you need to fill out your DABWAHA bracket–which is styled just like the NCAA basketball tournament–and choose who you think the winners will be. You can enter your bracket by clicking on this link. More information about the tournament, including the full roster of nominees and the prizes, can be found at the DABWAHA site. Note that entries are due by March 19 at 11:59:00 AM ET.

P.S. For those of you who loved Kyle, the infamous ex-con/billionaire heir/Twitter Terrorist hero of About That Night, he’d be more than happy to have your DABWAHA vote. : )

Good luck to all who enter!

Giveaway– Bad Boyfriend by K.A. Mitchell

March 26th, 2012 — 12:27pm

Please note: the giveaway is now closed.  Winner will be announced shortly.

If you haven’t heard already, A LOT LIKE LOVE made it into the Final Four of the DA BWAHA tournament!  Once again, big thanks to all of you–I’d been offline for much of the day yesterday with my son’s fifth birthday party, (which was chaos) and I know many of you were out there spreading the word about voting in my absence.  You guys are all so awesome. Truly.

Yesterday my book was up against Bad Boyfriend by K.A. Mitchell.  I haven’t had the pleasure of reading any of K.A. Mitchell’s books (yet), but that’s what DA BWAHA is all about–discovering new authors.  (Well, that and the trash talking.)  Sarah F. at Dear Author did a fantastic review of Bad Boyfriend, which you can read here, and today I’d love to add it to one of your TBR piles.  Here’s some more about the book:

Sometimes it’s good to be bad. Real good…

Bad in Baltimore, Book 2

After Eli Wright came out, his parents threw him out. In the five years since, he’s made his own way, lived by his own rules, determined to never change himself—not for anyone. He’s not against finding Mr. Right, but Mr. Right Now will do just fine.

Quinn Maloney’s reward for ten years of faithfully keeping his closeted boyfriend’s secrets? A hell of a wake-up call to go with his morning coffee. Not only did Peter have affairs, he went straight to marry his pregnant girlfriend—and Quinn was to never reveal their history.

With the baby’s baptism looming and Quinn expected to put on a polite front, he decides he’s had enough of playing the peacekeeper. One wink from a much younger, eyeliner-wearing guy in a bar, and Quinn’s found a perfectly outrageous date for the occasion.

The date goes better than he ever imagined. And so much worse, as Eli convinces everyone they’re madly in love. That wasn’t part of the plan, but the more Quinn learns about the man behind the makeup, the more he wishes it was true.

Giveaway–Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey

March 23rd, 2012 — 2:23pm

Please note: the giveaway is now closed.  Winner will be announced shortly.

Hurray! A LOT LIKE LOVE won its last matchup in the DA BWAHA tournament and has made it into the Elite Eight.  Once again, a huge thanks to all of you for voting, tweeting, spreading the word on Facebook, etc.  I owe it all to you. : )

Last round my book was up against Yours to Keep by Shannon Stacey. And let me tell you–that was a tough battle for me because I loved that book.  Fun and sexy, it’s a must-read for anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.  All I’ll say is: those Post-It notes.  Adorable.  (And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you should check out the book to find out!)

With that in mind, I’d like to add Yours to Keep to somebody’s TBR pile by giving away a copy.  Here’s more about the book:

Sean Kowalski no sooner leaves the army than he’s recruited by Emma Shaw to be her fake fiancé. Emma needs to produce a husband-to-be for her grandmother’s upcoming visit, and, though Sean doesn’t like the deception, he could use the landscaping job Emma’s offering while he decides what to do with his civilian life. And, despite his attraction to Emma, there’s no chance he’ll fall for a woman with deep roots in a town he’s not planning to call home.

Emma’s not interested in a real relationship either; not with a man whose idea of home is wherever he drops his duffel bag. No matter how amazing his “pretend” kisses are…
